Once again this year, the Angel Wings, which VIP Alexandria Magazine featured in a story in our November 2020 issue and have become a well-recognized symbol of the Walk to Bust Cancer, will be making their way all around the city of Alexandria during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The original wings, painted by Alexandria resident and breast cancer warrior, Mary Edwards, and her family, will be housed in Founder's Hall/South Block at 106 N. Lee Street during the month of October. Two large replicas will move around daily to local businesses, supporters, sponsors, restaurants, and more.
The National Breast Center Foundation, which is hosting the 6th Annual Walk to Bust Cancer on October 24th at Fort Hunt Park, asks that people participate in the 'Angel Wing Challenge' to support women in need battling breast cancer by:- finding the wings around Alexandria- taking a picture with them- posting on their social media with #angelwingchallenge and #walktobustcancer - tagging the local establishment where the find the wings- donating and/or registering for the Walk by visiting www.walktobustcancer.org, and tagging friends challenging them to do the same. For any information about the Walk to Bust Cancer, Angel Wing Challenge or Sponsorship Opportunities, please contact Martha Carucci at martha.carucci@nationalbreastcenter.org.
