VIP Alexandria Magazine invited four local fashion influencers to a very special photoshoot at Principle Gallery in Old Town, Alexandria. Learn what they each had to say about what you can expect to be trending in the world of fashion this season!

VIP: What is trending in fall fashion this year?
Christina: Pop culture and fashion are so intertwined right now and what is trending is retro, more specifically, the 90s. Monochromatic “Barbiecore” looks, 90s-inspired slip dresses and chunky loafers as well as classic aviator-inspired style and structured leather looks.
VIP: Tell us about the outfits you chose to model for this photoshoot?
Christina: Top Gun: Maverick is the biggest film of the year and aviator sunglasses and bomber jackets are going to be everywhere! I’m wearing Ray-ban sunglasses, a Michael Kors jacket, Ash boots and the Aleksandra shirtdress from Lucuma, a local woman-owned Arlington boutique.
If you like pink, this is your year, as monochromatic Barbiecore looks are it. I’m wearing Steve Madden boots and a matching knit set from Elan Studio, a local woman-owned Alexandria boutique.

VIP: What is trending in fall fashion this year?
Stephanie: Trending right now: clogs, clogs, clogs! They are everywhere. In addition, midi skirts, shackets (definition below) and platform shoes are some of the fall trend highlights. I’m digging them all!
VIP: Tell us about the outfits you chose to model for this photoshoot.
Stephanie: My first outfit featured denim and clogs. The blazer is Sabina Savage, the clogs are Rachel Comey, the jeans are Citizens, and all of these came from a local boutique called The Hive. The jean shirt is Nili Lotan and the bag is vintage Mulberry. I'm loving the clog trend.
For my second outfit, I chose a leather jacket and skirt by Veronica Beard (one can find these at the Georgetown store)! The boots and belt are Isabel Marant. Burgundy is my favorite color and I repeat it a lot in fall.

VIP: What is trending in fall fashion this year?
Amreen: I think, for fall, quilted items are trending. I also see riding boots on the rise, as well as leather and tweed.
VIP: Tell us about what you are wearing?
Amreen: My shirt in these images is from Abercrombie and so are my leather pants! They have a great variety with sizes and lengths, so I just had to get them. My jacket is from Aritzia and my boots are from Zara!

VIP: What is trending in fall fashion this year?
Jessica: Fall 2022 trends are all about equestrian/ preppy. White tank tops, but cross that with corset tops, which is also a trend. Leather on leather and bomber jackets. Floral patterns and feminine frills (think Bridgerton).
VIP: Tell us about the outfits you chose to model for this photoshoot.
Jessica: My first outfit was an edgy mix of equestrian and leather. The faux leather mini pleated skirt is from Anthropologie, the white corset tank top is from Marshall’s, the long leather jacket is from Blank NYC, the houndstooth long jacket is from Anthropologie and the black chunk heel high booties are from Marshall’s.
The floral maxi dress is from South Moon Under with cream high booties from Marshall’s.
