The George of Old Town

The George of Old Town

The Revolutionary era was nothing if not rife with elegance and grandeur, romance and charm. And though the stately house that now stands at 506 Cameron Street in Old Town Alexandria might not yet have been in existence during those fraught days in our nation’s history, the restored kitchen now housed within its walls does claim the distinction of being part of George Washington’s townhouse estate.

Building on that sense of history, owners Martha and Steven Peterson used their extensive experience in property development and real estate investment to create a luxury AirBnB called The George, planning out the spaces down to the finest detail, from the eight lavish suites to each of the common areas, which include a handsomely appointed living room, dining room, kitchen, tavern room, and the beautiful courtyard space. Naturally, a part of their vision for the property was as an event venue for very intimate gatherings such as bridal showers and engagement parties as well as small wedding ceremonies and receptions, and the romance of it all couldn’t provide a more perfect setting. Making it even more ideal for couples planning the day of their dreams, the accommodations offer a unique honeymoon experience, an escape from the expected setting of chain hotels. Designed with the perfect balance of historic charm and modernity, The George is truly an intimate, exceptional venue—and a beautiful space to begin a beautiful new life.

Each of the suites can be rented out on an individual basis or booked as a whole property for larger groups, and all accommodations include use of the common areas as well as tickets for admission to Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s main residence.
