Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria recently held their annual bag sale, and for the whole day, anything that fit into their shopping bag was 25% off. Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit network of retail stores that creates opportunities for artists in developing countries to earn income by selling their products in more viable markets than their own. The annual bag sale is the only time of year the entire store goes on sale, and it’s an opportune time for Alexandria locals to pick up handmade gifts for the holiday season. Through their annual bag sale, Ten Thousand Villages raises awareness for issues of fair trade, all while making the holiday season merrier for artisans and customers alike.
