Old Town Festival of Speed & Style Donates $20,000 to Local Charities

January 18, 2022 (Alexandria, VA) - This past weekend, the organizers of the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style presented by Burke & Herbert Bank, presented checks to two local charities that benefited from this signature event that took place over the Labor Day weekend this past Fall.

The second annual single-day, free event was originally scheduled to take place in 2020, but was postponed three times due to the pandemic. The Festival finally took place on Sunday, September 5, 2021. It featured more than 100 rare and unusual supercars and vintage motorcycles from around the world for up-close viewing enjoyment. The event spanned across the lower blocks of King Street, and around Market Square — near Old Town’s waterfront — and drew more than 10,000 spectators during the day. Giving back to the community is a key mission of the Festival, whereby organizers select local charities to donate event proceeds. The event Board of Directors presented two $10,000 checks to event beneficiaries USO (Metro Washington Baltimore) and Alexandria non-profit ALIVE! which provides short-term to long-term support for those less fortunate in the community. These organizations were also given $3,000 each last year by the Festival during the height of the pandemic — when they needed the money the most.

The Festival has donated nearly $30K to local charities since its inception. Planning is underway for the Third Annual Old Town Festival of Speed & Style, presented by Burke & Herbert Bank, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Local charities for the 2022 event will be announced next week.
