Mount Vernon’s annual two-day Colonial Market & Fair embraced 18th century American life with dozens of authentic craftspeople, reenactors, and artisans. The colonial music and garments were reminiscent of when the colonies were first established. Attendees enjoyed demonstrations of 18th century crafting techniques, performances by reenactors, and activities for children such as ice cream making and puppet shows. Attendees could watch handcrafted food and pastries being made before purchasing them. Colonial artisans were available for storytelling and conversation.

The 12-acre field was converted into a marketplace filed with unique handmade gifts – perfect for early holiday shopping. Attendees could also simply sit back and enjoy the sight of the mansion that was once George Washington’s home.
