The ALX Pink Gala, a formal event hosted by ALX Community and VIP Alexandria Magazine, turned Alexandria pink last month. The sold-out event was “pink tie optional” in support of breast cancer awareness, and the guests did not disappoint. Thanks to guests, silent auction donors, and generous sponsors such as Purple Onion Catering Co., Alexandria Toyota, Comfort One Shoes, Carr Companies, Alexandria Restaurant Partners, ALTO, and many others, over $65,000 was raised for the National Breast Center Foundation. The local organization, led by founder Dr. David Weintritt and Director Martha Carucci, exists to provide mammograms & diagnostics to uninsured and under-insured women..
