“Our work is all about bridging the gap to opportunity for children, youth and families, by providing a range of education and social support programs,” says Dr. Tammy Mann, President & CEO of the Campagna Center. “For more than 75 years, the center has been committed to ensuring that those Campagna serves [are able] to realize their full potential so they can contribute to our society. Our community is stronger when children and families thrive.”

Tammy says the center offers a “full continuum of education programs,” including adult education English language classes and other support for immigrants and refugees new to our community. Under her leadership, and in partnership with AHC Inc., The Campagna Center recently expanded its early childhood learning programs. An early learning center was opened on the west side where there is a growing need for these services. The new center has a capacity to serve 50 children who would otherwise not have access to care.
Tammy was named the 2020 Business Leader of the Year by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and has worked exclusively in the non-profit sector for 30 years. She says that for her, leadership is van act of service. “I am passionate about work that contributes to the public good. When you’re fortunate enough to be in a leadership position, what matters most is how you show up and serve the people you work with.”
'Go Red for Women is an important opportunity to empower more women to embrace the challenge of demonstrating self-love by taking better care of themselves. At 55, I have never felt better.'
Tammy has been married to her high school sweetheart for 32 years, and the couple has two adult children. Her commitment to the community and her family is what drives her focus on her heart health and she encourages others to do the same. 'It took me many years to realize that heart health mattered. Thankfully, I did not have a health crisis jolt me into that reality. I decided that it was one thing to look healthy and quite another to actually feel healthy. At 52, I took on weight training, exercise and began tending to my eating habits. Go Red for Women is an important opportunity to empower more women to embrace the challenge of demonstrating self-love by taking better care of themselves. At 55, I have never felt better.'
