Catoctin Creek Offering Whiskey Distillery Weddings

When couples think about where they want to get married, many couples think of hotels, ranches, or ballrooms. With so many choices available, one might not think to turn to a whiskey distillery. But Catoctin Creek Distillery is a classic, yet unique option to add to anyone's list.

For twelve years, co-founders Becky and Scott Harris have operated Purcellville-based whiskey distillery, Catoctin Creek Distillery, the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since before Prohibition. Everything produced in the distillery is 100% handcrafted from local grain and distilled and bottled on-site.

A whiskey distillery may sound like an unusual choice for a wedding, but with its beautiful industrial chic 1920's-era aesthetic, comfortable space, and the team's years of experience hosting private events, Catoctin Creek Distillery is a premiere venue for weddings or rehearsal dinners.

'We have hosted both wedding ceremonies and rehearsal dinners in our intimate and unique space. Lots of gleaming copper and stainless steel, which can be beautiful for the right type of wedding. We have happily hosted both conventional weddings and LGBT weddings,' says Scott Harris, co-founder and general manager. 'For weddings, our space is small, so it is most appropriate for weddings under 50 people. Our tasting room is a beautiful venue for rehearsal dinners, with the ability to do cocktail pairings and special catering menus in our beautiful prohibition-era space, 100 years old this year. Rehearsal dinners can accommodate up to 50 people.'

The uniqueness of the venue is not lost on Harris, nor the couples who choose to have their weddings here. 'How many people out there can say that they got married in an active distillery? Gleaming copper pot stills, stainless steel tanks, rustic barrels, and even an opportunity to produce your own custom-label wedding whiskey!'
