Alexandria Cider Festival

Alexandria Cider Festival

Story + Photography by Catherine May Taylor

On a recent cool and cloudy day, Alexandria hosted the Alexandria Cider Festival at the historic Lloyd House in Old Town. Nine Virginia cideries were on hand and tickets for the event included tastings, a souvenir glass, and live music provided by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington.

Alexandria’s own Lost Boy Cider represented, as well as Albemarle Cider Works, Blue Bee Cider, Bold Rock Cider, Bryant’s Cider, Buskey Cider, Castle Hill Cider, Courthouse Creek Cidery, Old Hill Cider, and Potter’s Craft Cider. The more original the cider, the longer the lines. Flavors such as Buskey Cider’s blueberry pancake and Courthouse Creek Cidery’s blackberry lavender were popular.
